The Carpenter/Installer position is a hands-on role, responsible for the effective production of all assigned project tasks; accountable to the Project Supervisor/Superintendent; and responsible for contributing to the success of the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all parties involved in the project
  • Collaborate effectively with the MasterCraft team to meet all organizational objectives
  • Promote safety above all other objectives on the job site for all participants in the project when on the job site in coordination with other MasterCraft team members
  • Promote positive subcontractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors at all times
  • Effective utilization of materials, equipment and other resources for the project
  • Provide solutions to solve problems or increase value to the project to meet or exceed expectations for the project
  • Effectively communicate project details including material and travel receipts, task lists, and other required documentation
  • Review drawings and all other pertinent project documents for accuracy, constructability, error or omissions and resolve as necessary
  • Participate in weekly meetings at the job site including safety meetings with all working on the job site and various subcontractor, client and company progress meetings as necessary
  • Uphold and exemplify a high standard of ethics, integrity and core values of the company
  • Actively participate in development of self, others, and company specified training or initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • 5 years of experience in construction including interior finish work and tenant improvement construction
  • Skilled in the hand-on installation of drywall and framing, finish carpentry, store fixtures/displays, acoustical ceilings, concrete patching, caulking, doors and hardware, flooring (carpet tile, base, ceramic tile, VCT, and LVT), bathroom accessories, and minor plumbing
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong drive to succeed and satisfy all customers internal and external
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and ability to pay close attention to the important details of each project
  • Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and maintain a positive attitude, treating all people with respect
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and multi-task effectively
  • Basic knowledge of commercial construction practices including blueprint reading
  • Ability to self-perform all work as noted above in responsibilities
  • Maintain CPR, first aid, and OSHA training as required by MasterCraft
  • Excellent computer skills including Builder Trend, Microsoft Office, Outlook and Project
  • Able to travel 100% of the time for projects for extended periods of time
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a clean job site- pick up tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards
  • Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding and other temporary structures
  • Load/unload trucks and haul/hoist materials
  • May assist with controlling traffic
  • Assist carpenters and other trades

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Drivers License
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used on commercial construction projects
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Proof of Identity and Employment Authorization

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR CONSTRUCTION WORKER

  • Ready the construction site each day for the current project by preparing materials, tools, and equipment
  • Apply new project instructions for each job and make adjustments as direction by the construction manager or supervisor
  • Wear clean safety equipment, such as ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves, helmets, and boots that are in good repair
  • Comply with health and safety regulations when operating equipment or walking on the job site even when not on active duty
  • Maintain a brisk and productive pace of activities to complete all assigned tasks within time constraints
  • Leave construction equipment and tools clean, organized, and stored in an orderly fashion after each use
  • Dispose of debris and hazardous materials according to local environmental standards and regulations
  • Provide assistance to other team members on various tasks if your duties are completed ahead of schedule

QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION WORKER

  • Familiarity with hand tools such as power drills, hammers, and saws
  • Ability to perform repetitive actions using your hands, arms, wrists, fingers, legs, or other body parts
  • Commitment to wearing protective safety gear for heat, noise, and prevention of injury on the job site
  • Desire to work long shifts, usually up to 8 hours, during the day or at night
  • Good English oral comprehension skills to follow verbal instructions and respond to questions about job tasks
  • Steady hands and ability to balance well even on high beams or scaffolding
  • General knowledge of construction operations and procedures
  • Ability to work well with a team of subcontractors and a supervisor

PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide coordination and supervision of projects
  • Build/maintain job-site culture of “Safety First”
  • Quality Control/Quality Assurance
  • Daily coordination and management of subcontractors and job-site logistics
  • Maintain/update construction schedules and ‘look ahead’ schedules
  • Coordinate with vendors for job-site material deliveries and requirements.
  • Review project budgets with project management weekly/monthly
  • Complete daily/weekly reports and maintain photo documentation of progress

PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5 years of proven experience in multi-family and/or commercial construction preferred.
  • Partnership approach to working with contractors, designers and clients.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including  Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Experience with Builder Trend Construction Management software is a plus.
  • Strong written, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a team
  • Self-motivation with good time management skills
  • Ability to lift 50lbs, work at heights of 6ft+ and work in outdoor job-site conditions
